In the shadow of desolate mountains, two wanderers approach a colossal stone spider, entombed within the mountain itself. Ancient and half-forgotten, this fiery colossus pulses with the heartbeat of magma — a buried god, or perhaps a gateway to something even darker beneath the crust of the world.

This is the first part of the challenge Medieval: Back and Forth. My medieval reality is full of dirt on the streets that people created in pursuit of the benefits of civilization. Pay special attention to oil production. Rapid industrialization increased the stratification of society into rich and poor. My medieval world turned out dark. It's on the verge of an ecological disaster.
