About

Hello! I’m Anna Kovalchuk — a 2D Concept Environment Artist.

I create immersive and visually rich environments for games, focusing on mood, storytelling, and worldbuilding. With over 8 years of experience as a freelance concept artist and illustrator, I’ve worked on a wide variety of game-related projects — including card and board games, mobile titles, and promotional artwork for game studios.

My ability to adapt to different styles and pipelines has allowed me to contribute to both indie and larger-scale productions. I place a strong emphasis on visual storytelling, supported by years of plein air practice and the development of a personal visual library. In addition to freelance work, I spent over 2 years working in-house at game studios, gaining valuable experience in team-based production environments.

I use 3D tools like Maya, Blender, ZBrush, and 3D Coat to support my 2D workflow — helping to quickly block out scenes, experiment with lighting, and push designs further.

I hold a Master’s degree in Illustration and Graphic Arts from the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts (2007–2013). I also have over 5 years of teaching experience in academic drawing, painting, and composition at an art school — something that has strengthened my understanding of form, color, and design.

I’m always open to new game-related projects, creative collaborations, and opportunities to bring imaginative worlds to life.
